It’s been a while since I’ve updated this blog, apologies to those who read this 🙂 Last week we published the fifth book in the Last King of Shang series, covering chapters 68 through 84 of the original 100-chapter epic shenmo novel Investiture of the Gods. Here’s the back cover blurb:
Jiang Ziya unites the Zhou rebels and leads them in a series of epic battles as they struggle to overthrow the corrupt Shang dynasty. Facing formidable foes, powerful magic and deadly traps, they find themselves allied with legendary immortals like Laozi, the founder of Daoism. Heaven and earth clash, and the fate of the human world hangs in the balance.
It’s bout the same length as the previous books in the series, coming in at just over 400 pages including everything (Chinese, pinyin, English, glossary). We also have continued our practice of including simplified translations of the poems at the beginning of each chapter, and we’ve started adding explanatory footnotes as well. At some point I will go back and add these footnotes to the previous books in the series.
I’m happy to report that the book is available in both paperback and ebook formats from Amazon, see the entire series list here. The ebook is also available from various other online sellers, see this link. Also, the free audiobook is available, see our home page for the link.
We are starting work on the sixth and final installment of the series. Look for it in October!
