Just wanted to let everyone know what we are working on…
Things are looking really good for the new “Heroes of Ancient China” series. The first book, Nezha, has been a surprising success, and is now our 2nd best-selling book (after Dao De Jing in Clear English, our perennial best-seller). Encouraged by that, we have four more books in various stages of completion: Chang’e Goddess of the Moon, Yu the Great, Nuwa the Creator, and Hou Yi the Archer. The Chang’e book is being written by myself and Xiao Hui Wang, and the other three are by three terrific guest authors. We’ll announce these new books as they are released.
We’ve gone back and made a slight redesign of the Nezha book cover (see it here) so it has a spine and border design reminiscent of the bamboo slips used to bind books in ancient China, and there’s vertical writing on the left side of the cover that is actually Simplified Chinese but looks a lot like seal script! All the books in the Heroes series will have this new spine and border design. Thanks to Yu Jin and the wizards at NextMars Media for their terrific design, as always.
We have two more books in development. The long-awaited Chengyu book, chock-full of Chinese aphorisms, is still in final editing and is probably a couple of months away. And we are working on a really big project, the Teacher’s Guide to The Journey to the West. That’s a bit behind schedule and is now slated to appear later this year, hopefully in time for use in Spring 2026 classes.
